What is the difference between ethical hacking and testing?

Testing means verifying  the application before it is going to be used by anyone. Ethical hacking means finding the bugs in a system which has already gone through sdlc. Generally after testing is performed and user accepted it then the responsibility of the application builders is over(of course they may provide maintenance for some period say 6 months in case the client is worth). So in simple words if u r trying to find bugs before delivering the application is called testing and doing it after the application is delivered it is called ethical hacking. of course in ethical hacking they wont do performance testing load testing etc which were performed in testing
