How do you separate counts for nulls and blank value records from flat file source?
In a Flat File source there r Null as well as Blank values .If u r doing the profiling for that source ,how do u gete counts for the Null and Blank separately instead of getting them as one countThanksManish

For This first of all replace the null values by some default values and blank values by other default values then use Count(*) operator in select clause along with IN statement EG:-SELECT COUNT(*) FROM table_name WHERE coulmn_name IN('default_1','default_2');

Use aggregate transformation with count to specify the null and blank.Count with the condition of not equal to null to get the count of blank values and as well to get the count of null values chk with the Null.

Why session fails when running a workflow
Could anyone tell me why session fails when running a workflow? I do not see any records being inserted to target table though source table has data. There are sufficient permissions to the user who is running workflow and relational connections are pointing to the correct databases. This whole exercise is taking place on windows xp pro and backend database is oracle 10 EE. Any help is appreciated.

Read the session log file, and also do check weather your target table is generated or not because if you are getting the result as 'now rows selected' then this might be one of the reason. You need to generate target table in designer itself.

A join Index is a cross between a view and an index. It is like a view in that it is created using a query to specify the structure, composition and source of the contents. It is like an index in the way that it is used automatically by the database system to improve the performance of a query. Join indexes use the "classic" space-time trade off trading disk space for storage of the join index to get improved performance for queries. Unlike many other materialized view implementations, Teradata join indexes are updated immediately and automatically when changes are made to the base tables. There is never a concern that you might be using stale data when the system chooses to use a join index in the query plan. Also, Teradata uses its sophisticated coverage testing algorithm to minimize the cost associated with join index maintenance.?
