How will you select a models (like spiral, v-model) for a particular project?

It depends on origination then type of project, time frame and money.
Example:
If project requirements are clear and fixed then we can use water fall or V-Model.
If creating a new project on basis of existing project with some additional features, in new language, different UI like these thinks, then we should prefer water fall.
If requirements are not clear and client is also not clear that what he is expecting then we should go through prototype model.
If you don’t have all requirements but you need to start project then you should prefer Spiral Model.

As best of my knowledge It's purely based on the organization, which model they follow. other wise it's depends up on "Time Frame","Budget","Size of the project".

When the project is considered as a risk based project then we can go for spiral model.

Hi

This is purely depends up on level of the company and depends on customer expectation.

If company is a cmmi level 5 then they charge for a lot to the custemer if he needs level 5 quality, or else custemer can go other least models.

If company is a small then they will or will not follow the models, but as the real most of the companies doesnt follow the models proerply.

I agree with Amith K Garg , but truely speaking it is out of scope for testers. only project managers and other stake holders along with senior developers will be the decision makers here.

Though theoritically speaking testers can provide their input (but practically testers are not the right person to ask for)

The software development model (spiral, v-model and waterfall) chosen in an organization depends on organization budget, size, resources and the time allotted for development.
