If an application name changes frequently, i.e. while recording it has a name Window1 and then while running it becomes Window2. How does QTP handle this?

It will throw an error. For this reason we can use regular expression

use window.* regular expression change the tilte in OR to window.* and name too..this should work..

Go to Object Repository and select the Window1 object properties then click the configure the value icon at text property value.
make it Window[0-9]
click the check box Regular Expression then click OK Button, No.
Now u can directly execute ur script without changing.
