Once risks are identified, plans are created to prevent them from happening and/or minimizing their impact should they occur.  These are called mitigation plans.

EXAMPLE

Risk:  Technology does not meet requirements

Mitigation:  In order to prevent this from happening, both formal and informal meetings will be held with the customer on a routine basis.  These meetings will ensure that the product satisfies our client's requirements.
