I am using Windows 2000 OS. At DOS prompt while I am issuing CD command to switch to an existing directory (eg. appserver) it is throwing error 'Invalid directory'. Would appreciate if anybody have an idea how to resolve it?

hi, that particular directory can be protected by password in DOS.

using ren command with the combination of alt+some other keys.

i think this is the most appropriate answer for your problem.

Hi ,I found CMD and COMMAND dos prompts does have a difference. And with COMMAND I am able to resolve the problem of entering into folders.Regards,-ashruf

mr.sunil has posted as might be given password using "ren", but "ren" command does not work from Windows NT. In your case it may happen that you might not be having user level rights to access that perticular file, or that that file might be encrypted with the older OS.
