Hi,

For UI testing you may use Mercury tools like Winrunner, QTP or Seague products like Silk test.

You may even go for Rational products for that but it will be costlier than Mercury. That is why Mercury has a higher piece of the market share.

For Load testing you may go for Mercury Loadrunner.

As your company has Java based application and your QA team is non-development team.. I would suggest you to go for Mercury QTP to automate the functionality and for Performance LoadRunner is suitable to your projects.

Some othere tools are also available.. like Rational Robo for Functional automation, but you should need some developing kowledge resuorces to handle the automation activities.

Coding wise and handling wise.. Mercury tools are more userfriendly than other tools

Hi,

I would recommend you to try out Selenium if you are working on web based application. It is an Open Source tool which is quite easy to learn and don't need investment for tools. Selenium IDE works only on FF. You can do the recoding in that and export it to Java file and edit your code there.

The testers need not be developers but to implement any tool effectively you will have to know basics of programming.
