1.     application server monitors,

2.     web server monitors,

3.     database server monitors and

4.     network monitors.  They help in finding out the troubled area in our scenario which causes increased response time.  The measurements made are usually performance response time, throughput, hits/sec, network delay graphs, etc.

How did you find database related issues?

By running ?Database? monitor and help of ?Data Resource Graph? we can find database related issues. E.g. You can specify the resource you want to measure on before running the controller and than you can see database related issues

How did you find web server related issues?

Using Web resource monitors we can find the performance of web servers.  Using these monitors we can analyze throughput on the webserver,

number of hits per second that occured during scenario,

the number of http responses per second,

the number of downloaded pages per second

Good Question!

Monitors are different set of Integrated tools used in the controllers to monitor performance bottlenecks and activities. The most common and best example for monitor is the system performance monitor (task manager) in Windows which Monitors and shows you the activities of the OS and Machine.

To get more better of them refer to the following link:

http://www.mercury.com/us/products/performance-center/loadrunner/monitors/

or you can refer to the monitor reference of the LOAD RUNNERS documentation..
