i think the question z incomplete but equation that i am getting is

let 5th son  receives  'y' coins then

4th son's share=1+5y

3rd=6+25y

"

1st=155+625y

then the old man has 156+625y(this is boys share)

if y=1 than old man had 781

if one girl is getting 20 coins than total coins that old man had 881

so i m getting the same ans.

Total Coins = 3121.
3121 = (3121-1), (3120 * 1/5), (2496-1), (2495 * 1/5), (1996-1), (1995 * 1/5), (1596-1), (1595 * 1/5), (1276-1), (1275 * 1/5), 1020
Now divide in girls equaly = 1020 / 5 = 204 coins to each
