The best approach to this scenario where there are no requirement documents of any types,to make sure that the functionality that is being tested is correct or not,would be to get interactive with the business people or the developers who are developing the code or the Business Analyst.

When we go for a software testing job in a big CMM-5 company, is there any certificate needed for software testing. because i had done my mca thru distance education. and with my own interest I learned Manual testing, winrunner,Testdirectory, Loadrunner,QTP etc. but I dont have any certificate. but presently iam working in a small ITcompany as a software trainee. so my question is this is it mandatory of all these local center certificate for proof of my knowledge. please anybody answer to this question?

This is a big area with a lot of methods and esp. if you want if from the basics.. The best thing is to attend a course or read a book about it. I recommend "Foundations of Software Testing" by Dorothy Graham.

White box testing are test that are done by the programmer to test the internal logic of the software.Black box testing are test done by the tester, it test what the software must do without knowing the internal mechanism.Load runner is for load testing the software.
