Write sample code to import excel file in to test director

For test scripts and defects you need not required any sample code for importing from excels. What you need to have is add-ins, install TD/MQC add-ins and from xls spread sheet select export option. The format should as per the TD guidlines.Thanks G M Mohana Reddy

Your Requirement is not linked to any test case. You have to link your test case to a requirement.

Filters in TestDirector are similar to that of filters available in other applications. You will use them to filter out for the required results.Like you will only want to see passes tests or passed requirements etc.

QC administration - populating values from system defined field in an user defined field
I need to populate the data entered in releases tab (system defined field) into an user defined field in test plan for the test cases. I don't want the test cases to be linked to the requirements which in turn needs to be linked to the releases. I would like to filter out the test cases directly from test plan and also keep the history of the modifications.

You can go to the Test tab and create a folder for the current project and create sub folders according to the requirements or modules and then under each sub folder you can create Manual Test cases and also automated Scripts.
