Object repository act as a interface b/w application and QTP. It stores all the objects on which some opration is performed during recording. Here new objects can be created/deleterd. We can also export objects from local object repository to shared repository.

When ordinal identifiers alone can make an object unique then why they are not given top priority? Why it is first mandatory and next assitive. Why we cannot go for ordinal identifiers directly?

Using the ordinal identifier we can identified the unique object roughly.   Well if we use the smartidentifier, then our skill will identified by the team leader using that it will identify the object uniquely.

Smart Identification is disabled by default.We use it whenever an object fails to be identified by its mandatory and assertive properties.We can enable it thru the Object identification dialog box.

Hi
Am using qtp 9.2 version.Window applications are working fine.QTP is not capturing the page in web applications when we click on the (add objects to local icon) and objects are not stored in the object repository.Am using IE9 and OS is windows 7.I don't know if something is wrong in qtp or OS settings?please help me to solve this issue.Thanks in advance.

There might be two problems 1. IE 9 does not support for qtp 9.2 it supports IE 7 and windows xp sp3 (or)2. There are some setting in object identification-> change environment-> web and some properties in mandatory and assistive.

Hi all,

We actually have few functions to add the results to the Excel File instead in the QTP Results Window.

Solution description: We will be using a seperate Sheet by name "Results" in which the Results of the Test will be appened.

There are 2 functions

1) initOutExcel(sTablePath)

         Description : This function is to initialize a particular Excel Where you want to update the Results of the QTP Tests.

2) WriteResults(sTablePath,sStatus,sFunctionality,sDescription)

        Description : This function appends the Result of a  Test to the end of the existing results.

You can modify the below functions to suite your requitrement.

QTP supports only windows based applications and it supports only VB scripting language. It does not support Java, PHP, etc.
