What is call stack in ABAP debugging?

Call Stack in ABAP Debugger displays an active event chain and the call sequence upto the current breakpoint. In other words, the stack displays all the events that are part of the ABAP program, and gives the programmer the flexibility to navigate to any particular event in the ABAP editor.

ALV list just displays the output in list format which is not editable whereas the cells in the grid display are editable as Mayank said above, but we cannot update database using the editable values. We can just use the edited contents to print the list.
