Mod_aspnet also does the same thing. It uses the ASP.NET hosting API and works quite well. It does not require mono XSP. Some organization do not allow IIS because of secuirty reasons.

Classic ASP uses inline code. HTML and asp code <% %> are embedded in the same file. (.asp)One of the enhancements in ASP.NET framework is seperation of HTML code (UI) and the code behind that web page (.cs file). This is easier to maintain and it has several other advatnages.
