What are session variables and session parameters. Are the mapping variables and mapping parameters one and the same. I think it is not .

Parameters and variables are not the same.Parameter is one whose value remains the same throughout a session. You can set an initial value/default value.Variable is one whose value changes through the session. You can perform some functions such as MAX or MIN on the variables.

Failed Workflow

As u wish to run the workflow frm the second session, just go to workflow manager,right click on the session that u wish the begin the sequence from and click on 'start workflow from task'

I have worked with Informatica 7.1 but haven't used versioning.Informatica 8 is surely bundled with versioning systemAlso adding headers in a text target file is also possible in Info-8 without specifying the same while installation (which is wat you do for informatica 7)

Only start step2 task. For step 2 and step 3 both do "start workflow from this task".

It is due to wrong server connection, try to assign server correctly because the IP address what you are using may change, so try to resolve IP address in work flow manager -> assign server configuration.

No. Informatica does not extract data from application directly. It will extract only from databases and external sources.

Go to session log file and see no. of affected rows, applied rows and rejected rows. According to that you can know if any error occured. ?If any error occurs you can check why it occured and correct it accordingly.
