I am getting installation problems while trying to install Informatica 6.1It says that PmRepServer service should be installed.Any suggestions should be appreciated

In a Flat File source there r Null as well as Blank values .If u r doing the profiling for that source ,how do u gete counts for the Null and Blank separately instead of getting them as one countThanksManish

For This first of all replace the null values by some default values and blank values by other default values then use Count(*) operator in select clause along with IN statement EG:-SELECT COUNT(*) FROM table_name WHERE coulmn_name IN('default_1','default_2');

Use aggregate transformation with count to specify the null and blank.Count with the condition of not equal to null to get the count of blank values and as well to get the count of null values chk with the Null.

if we go by the direct meaning of your question....there is no need for a new mapping for a new databse, you just need to change the connections in the workflow manager to run the mapping on another database

u can also do it this way. connect to both the repositories, open the respective folders. keep the destination repository as active. from the navigator panel just drag and drop the mapping to the work area. it will ask whether to copy the mapping,say YES. its done.

Pros: Loading, Sorting, Merging operations will be faster as there is no index concept and Data will be in ASCII mode.Cons: There is no concept of updating existing records in flat file.         As there is no indexes, while lookups speed will be lesser.

It depends what database you are using. If you are using Oracle or SQL server it should not be the case. But if your database is Teradata or Netezza then that will happen. Because Teradata and Netezza uses multiple parallel processing units.ThanksAshis
