Union will give duplicate records also. Main reason is it is derived from custom transformation when union used with custom transformation at that time it works as active transformation. if any transformation have active functionality definitely that transformation is active.

Union returns the distinct values when you merge the result set from 2 different tables.so duplicates are not allowed, so it is active transformation

Session:  A session is a set of commands that describes the server to move data to the target.

Batch :  A Batch is set of tasks that may include one or more numbar of tasks (sessions, ewent wait, email, command, etc..,)

There are two types of batches in Informatica:

1. Sequential: When Data moves one after another from source to target it is sequential

2. Concurrent: When whole data moves simultaneously from source to target it is Concurrent

Router is passive transformation, but one may argue that it is passive because in case if we use default group (only) then there is no change in number of rows. What explanation will you give?

Router is an Active Transformation, Most of the time we use router only when we are going to apply multiple conditions on a records, It is absolutely possible for a record to satisfy one or more conditions thus making the router Active, Router is the only active transformation where the number of?output records from the transformation is greater or equal to the number of input records given to the transformation.

Hi,

We can pull any number of columns in unconnected lookup nut with the help of Lookup override. We can concatenate many columns and then use an expression to deconcat those values.

This is a way in informatica itself, follow the below step

In session level, click Edit - > Mapping - > select the tgt file - > goto Header Option -> select 'Output Filed Names'

Staging area is temporary area used by ETL to do "Transformation" process. It could be anything, namely database, flat file, memory (cache), complex file, etc. In ETL, there's minimal 3 area: Source, Staging, Target (DW/DM).
