First of all your core subjects begin from 2nd year only.so be strong with your B.E/B.Tech subject.

If you have good faculty then go on par with them and study the complete subject within the same semester and practice good number of previous IES/GATE problems.see to what extent you can map and observe your lapses and faults.

In case you do not have good faculty and resources then visit nptel website and listen to video lectures in the semester duration only. Refer good text books and if possible get some study material of any good coaching center(this is optional and up to your interest this may not be compulsory for your success but certainly an aid)

Keep yourself active in practicing more number of objective and descriptive problems from various sources, but learn theory only from one best/good source.... if you want any guidance you can feel free to contact me through satyasaichandra9 AT g**il DOT com
