Remedy for Stale cheque

One cheque was issued and not cashed before six months from the date of issued due to the request made. now the limit of six month is over.in such case what is the remedy?

In the books of chq received company

Bank A/c Dr
To Customer A/c

Being chq received from customer t/w ............

In case they are not chased before 6 months the chq is not valued he passed revers entry and he will ask to customer and he will get one more chq

Customer a/c dr
To Bank a/c

Being chq revers entry

when he get another chq

Bank a/c dr
To Customer a/c

Stale check is voided and New check is issued.

Stale cheque means not valid it means more than 3 months that cheque is not valid & issued a new cheque to the supplier.

place stop cheque and credit customer account and debit bank (GL)

We can take back the old cheque from client and upon client request we can issue new cheque or pay by cash.
Note: Before issuing new cheque or making payment by cash we need to first read the Payment Terms & Condition.
