Front Office: Trades a security instrument(Stock,  derivatives  etc etc)
Middle Office: ensures The trade data is accurate in the system
Back office: Accounting, Profit and loss report generation, reconciliation of the trades done.

Trades or deals are booked and executed on the front office by traders.
The operators in the middle office enrich the deal by including the static data to the deal e.g. settlement instructions, currency.
The back office confirms and settles the deal (the back office is where payments, confirmation and risks are managed).
