A person was fined for exceeding the speed limit by 10mph. Another person was also fined for exceeding the same speed limit by twice the same.  If the second person was traveling at a speed of 35 mph, find the speed limit.

Let ‘x’ be the speed limit. Person ‘A’ was fined for exceeding the speed limit by = 10mphPerson ‘B’ was fined for exceeding the speed limit by = twice of ‘A’    => 2*10mph=20mphgiven that the second person was traveling at the speed of 35mph => 35mph – 20mph = 15mphTherefore the speed limit is =15 mph

Threshold speed = x mph
let us assume that the 1st person was travelling at (x+10)mph
so it's obvious that the 2nd person travels at 2*(x+10)mph = 35mph; which means x = 7.5 which is the threshold or the speed limit.
So according to me the ans is 7.5mph.

let x be the speed limit;
first person speed = x + 10;
second person speed = x + (2 * 10);
                                   = x + 20;
                       35        = x + 20;
                        x         = 15 km/hr

Speed limit: x mph, 1st man: x+10 mph, 2nd man:35 mph.
(x+(2*10))=35....x=15mph
