Its Open System Interface Model. There are seven layers. 1. Application2. Presentation layer3. Session layer4. Transport layer5. Network layer6. Data link layer7. Physical layerData is send from application layer to physical layer of host 1 which is attached to a physical medium ,which transmits the data to the physical medium of host 2 and from there to application layer of host 2 through other layers and then to the user.

osi refers to open system interface model.it was used as a protocol in earlier days of internet when no set protocols were there.anyone could send data in any number form and the reciever had to decode it using the same number form in which it was sent.thus, a decision was taken to follow a set protocol known as tcp.ip.rest is same as above.

well its a open system interface  devloped by ISO. it gives the interportability between different vendor networks or systems.it has 7 layers already defined by other members.

OSI model is a Open System Interface model, it's purpose is to transfering  information from sendHOST to Recieve HOST in a secured way through 7 layers...

OSI is Open System Interface Model. It is a concept which is used to make data transfer in steps. There are 7 layers and each layer interact with its counterpart. earlier a product made by any abc co was able to communicate with the same company product. to communicate with different co's products it was created. as it's name shows "OPEN System Interface"
