In QTP when recording, no script is generated, neither in the tree view nor in the expert view. What could be the problem?

Probably, recording is done with Low-Level recording option being selected

In Test menu go to Record n Run  Settings /Windows Application and click on "Record and Run test on any open Window-based application". Then it will record. If still u have doubts fell free to contact me.

Reason may be that run time setting is "Record and Run test on any opened browser" & you are recording the test on the browser that was open before the QTP is launched. Try recording on another browser opened after QTP launched. Let me know if it worked.

The application you are working on is not supported by QTP. You need to call external DLL's to get the objects recognised or if it's a file that you are recording, then use FSO for the same.

Points to note on this case:
* Check that the Qtp application is should open first and then next open the application to test.
* Check that the supported plugins that applicable for the application should be checked.
* Check that the opened browser should support for the QTP.
* Check that the controls in the application should support to the QTP.

Hi Iliaz,
I have done the same setting which you have mentioned here. but still getting the same problem. My laptop has Win7. All other parts of the QTP is running well in my laptop. I am naggling with this problem plz help me on this.

When an application is launched before launching of QTP, QTP fails to recognize the application. Hence no script is generated.
Always launch the application under test after the qtp is launched in the machine.

Check UAC settings if you are using windows 7. It should be turned off.
