Hi,

In Load testing, we actually test the behaviour/performance of the software by varying the load on the same from minimum to maximum as specifieed in the 'Technical Specifications' document.

Whereas in Stress Testing, our main intention is to test the software's behaviour once it reaches the point where it actually breaks.  Here we gradually increase the load while denying the resources(eg. RAM, MIPs etc.) which are actually needed to run the same and test how application behaves under stressed condition.

Both Load and Stress testing are performed between min. and max. specified limits of the application as per Teschnical Requirements document.

Load and stress testing are the Relative terms to each other

Load testing is checking the performance of the system within the limits as per the technical specification

where as Stress testing is checking the performance of the system beyond the limits as per the technical specification

Load testing means ...putting the load on application.Stree testing means..putting the streee on application and hardware.Main itention is to put the stree on system configuration.

Simple example of Load and stress testing.Take example of Bike.Load:1).Only one person is on the bike.so no problem to bike.2)two persons on the bike.no problem3)three persons-no problemlike that increase the load on the bike ....Stree:At a time 10 persons on the bike-in this situation u have a problem...because bike can hold some pero\sons...after that it creates problem...

 Load:Load means the  subject refer  to the  statistical representation of the system.

stress testing: To test component or module beyond the limit of with in the specifications.

Load Testing: Increase in the No.of v.users Stress Testing: Pull down the resources (less configuration) and increase the no.of v.users
