What approach do you take in getting your people to accept your ideas or department goals?

I listen to what they have to say. If i find any flaws i point it out and then present my idea which is flawless from my point of view. If someone has doubts i would clarify them and then convince them to accept my idea with maybe some minor changes

When trying to influence people, I usually try to put myself in their position and think about their perspective. I'm then able to present thoughts to them in a way more likely to end in success.

Make them feel that they are also part of my idea. This will enable to be more receptive and I will also be receptive if they improve on that idea. This will get improved ideas to come.
