As a test engineer i will develope automation tests before begin comprehensive testing, and after TAT is completed, that to if the test is repeatable and critical to apply manually then only i will go for the automation

when the application becomes stable,when there are no more major changes in the application then we automate that part which performs regression testing

First, the application has to be manually tested. Once the manual testing is over and baseline is established.
