Test Case for Password Reset
In an application, while in registration page Password field was accepted as minimum of 8 characters (mixed). While Resetting the Password (Forget password), system generates 7 characters and send to user email. How you will write test case for this scenario?

1. Click on forgot password
2. Screen should comes asked for a personal information as pet name, or favourite teacher name, known by the user and entered when id or password is created for first time
3. user enter information
4. click on submit
5. User prompted to enter the alternate email id
6. User enter the email id into text box
7. click on submit
8. msg prompted new password sent to your email
9. User sign to alternate email account
10 Check for new password
11. User sign out from his alt email account
12 open email website
13 enetr id
14 enter password
15 click on login
16 Email account opened

5. reenter same password in 2nd text field

To write System Test case document we will need the business req spec or customer req spec. The BRS or CRS contains the requirements at the business level and not very detailed like the documents created after the BRS/CRS.
eg: when you open an inbox you should be able to see the recieved mails, when you send a mail, it shuld be stored in sent items. this requiremnts contains many test scenarios. and requriemsnt going down the line will be detailed.

Test Cases For Forget Password :
1.To check whether when we select the forgot password link it is directing to forgot password link page.
2.To check whether in that page it must ask for alternative email id to send the link
3.To check whether the link has sent to the mail to which the user has provided
4.To check whether the link can be used once once
5.To check whether when the user using the link for more than one time it should be dissolved
6.To check whether the user opens the link it should ask the security question same at the time he registered
7.To check whether the answer given by the user at that time and he has given while at the time of registering must be the same
8.To check whether the user gives any wrong answer then it must ask for the user to wait and to get more details to get his password

Equivalence partitioning and boundary value analysis to test a text box and accepts values greater than 18 and less than 21. The range of acceptable input is then 19 an 20. This isn't much of a range. In this example, there is no need to perform equivalence class partitioning because all numbers in the class will be used to conduct boundary value analysis.
The test values are:
18 ( min - 1 )
19 ( min )
20 ( max )
21 ( max + 1 )
