What is a display item?
Display items are similar to text items but store only fetched or assigned values. Operators cannot navigate to a display item or edit the value it contains.

Display items and text items are fairly similar and share many of the same properties. The biggest difference between the two is that a user can navigate to a text item and change its value. This is not possible with a display item. As its name implies, it merely displays information.

On-validate field will fire after post-change trigger. if value in field satisfy the validation then also post-change will fire when cursor leaves that field but after key-next

When will ON-VALIDATE-FIELD trigger executed ?
It fires when a value in a field has been changed and the field status is changed or new and the key has been pressed. If the field status is valid then any further change to the value in the field will not fire the on-validate-field trigger.

On-validate field tigger will fire when ever cursor moves from that field to next field, so first key-next will fire then validate.

other then on-error trigger , you can use exception also in that blockwith the help of a small procedure and alert you can populate the message and with raise_form_trigger_failure transaction can be controlled.
