At the present time there is a good distance vector routing protocol is EIGRP. It can use the best route to send the packets as per neighbor route metric and selects the best metric calculation.

DNS Means Domain Name Service
DNS Server down means server is not available at that pont of time, there will be a lot of causes for that. DNS Server converts human fiendly loguage in to ip addresses when user browses. Otherwice user has to use ip address of perticuler server for browsing.

Two dell optiplex server running Windows 2008, each one had 4 ethernet port. Port 1 from both server connected to the D-link unmanaged switch, IP as follows
server1 - 10.1.5.11 ( subnet 255.255.0.0)
