You need to check the repository server, informatica server and client while installing. Meta data and ODBC are optional.Then while installing, the user name needed to be given same as the O.S usernam...

I am asked to create a detailed metadata about ,transformations used in particular fact table mapping.How do i understand and create write up on what has happened to each port during each transformations?By right click on port in target definition and choosing backward path , I could get complete path for that port.Pls. adviseThanks,

you need to do it manually.In some cases you can see the effects by firing SQL queries in database directly.You may also use debugger to see the path followed if u have the privillege.But The best way is analyse and write the metadata manually.

If u parttion a session with a relational target informatica server creates multiple connections to the target database to write target data concurently.If u partition a session with a file target the informatica server creates one target file for each partition.U can configure session properties to merge these target files.

To eliminate the duplicate in flatfiles, we have distinct property in sorter transformation. If we enable that property, automatically it will remove duplicate rows in flatfiles.

Data can be viewed using Informatica's designer tool.If you want to view the data on source/target we can preview the data but with some limitations.We can use data profiling too.ThanksUma

You can overide the sql Query in Wofkflow Manager. LIkeselect * from tab_name where rownum<=1000minusselect * from tab_name where rownum<=500;This will work fine. Try it and get back to me if u have any issues about the same.

in db2 we write statement as fetch first 500 rows only.in informatica we can do by using sequence generator and filter out the row when exceds 500
