In BOBJ XI 3.1 Webi thick client is available, it gives option to use Universe, XLS and XML as the data provider. Webi from Infoview can use only Universe.

Hi, Yes you are correct. We can use multiple different data resources as dataprovider for deski whereas it is not possible in Webi(BOXI R2). but it is possible in BOXI R3 this is an advantage of this version.-Sridhar Subramani.

No need to change the universe, create some report level variables like:Year =Year([Date]), Month =Month([Date]), DayNumber([Date]) etc, but if you want to only show them differently just change the dateformat of the cell.

Yes we can view the sql uery in report level.once you run the query by selecting objects and filters in web intelligence.go to --->edit query--->isql.you can view the sql query.before running the query also you may directly view sql query by selecting isql buttonat top of the report panel.

I didn't get you completely but you can test your report SQL against expected SQL on database, run them individually, that will be proper data testing. Other than follow the checklist for formatting and other check.
