Hi, I am an administration executive and draw a fair salary. But, I have an liking towards software from my school days. I could not do my B.E, because of my financial constraints, hence, landed doing B.Com. Now that I'm fairly settled, I want to switch to s/w line. I am also doing a course in testing and MCA. Pls advise me what will be best at this point of time.

Sir,basically i am a commerce graduate and i did C-DAC in 2001,after that i was working in Bangalore as Software Developer as well as in Testing area.Now a days i am working as a Buiness Deveopment Oficer,and i would like to change software to BPO industry.i have total 5 years of experience.

The question is not up to the point. There are numerous openings in software for freshers like testing,web development,web designing,database designer and so on. The choice of each depends on the liking of an individual.

Whether it is testing or coding both have equal opportunities. As you have mentioned that you have not entered the software field for the past two years of your graduation.I would suggest you to take up this job and widen your knowledge in this field.All the best for your new job.

I cannot give a exact answer as it depends on the project you are going to take.BUt I hope that the concern or the company which is taking for project is aware of this and so would be giving a training initally to navigate through mainframes and then assign a simple project.

Whether it is testing or coding both have equal opportunities both career opportunities & Monetarywise. BUt you must widen your knowledge in whatever field you are and I would advice you not make switching of careers too often.

Once you have basic knowledge on mainframes and it tools you could get into many companies. It is not absolutely necessary that you ahve to work in COBOL in it. Widen your job search and I am sure your would get it. All the Best
