Answer is simple:
                      
                       AC is Alternating current
                      DC is Direct current.

I think your aim is not to know what is AC and what is DC.

In AC the frequency alters as per sine wave (terminals phase, neutral) where as in DC their are no ripples give max current frequency zero.

In AC, the average value is 0 where as in DC the average value is != 0 and it is finite.

Alternating current which magnitude change with time and D.C is magnitude dose not change with time its always same.

In AC, phase is present but in DC, negative and positive terminal is present.
