Let Fathers age be f, Sons age be s
After 5 years, fathers age is thrice of his son so, 5 years X (f)= 3X s
(Sons age(s)= Fathers age (f)- 18 so, s=f-18)
therefore, 5f=3(f-18)
5f-3f=54
f=27 (This is after 5 years), so present fathers age should be 27-5= 22 years and sons age must be 4. So after 5 years sons age will be 9 and thrice of sons age(9) will be 27 i.e. 18 yrs difference

Fathers particular age let be X
Son age y=father age x-18 so y=x-18
5x=3 (x-18)
5x-3x=54
2x=54
x=54/2
X=27
Son age y=x-18
Y=27-18

Let Sons present age = x years
so, fathers present age = x+18 years
after 5 years, sons age will be = x+5 years
fathers age will be = x+23 years
according to the problem,
x+23 = 3 (x+5)
or, 2x=8
or, x=4
so, fathers present age is (4+18) years = 22 years

Present age of father is 22 years
as father is 22 years so son is 22-18=4 years
after 5 years father is 27 and son becomes 9 year which makes father thrice age of his son
