When a report fetches data from more than 1 data source, multiple queries are sent to each of the data sources. The result-sets, from these individual queries sent to multiple data sources, are sticthed together (meaning joined together) and displayed as a single result in your report.

This is actually made possible by importing metadata from more than 1 data source into different namespaces of your Framework Manager model. You can create joins between query subjects from multiple data sources as mentioned above.
