What is the difference between metadata and data dictonary?

meta data is nothing but  information about data.it contains the information(i.e.data) about the graphs ,its related files,abinitiocommands,serverinformation etc i.e. all kinds of information about project related information etc

metadata is :

  1. The data about data;
  2. The structured data about data;
  3. A set of independent assertions about a resource.
DD is :
  1. An intergrated set of system tables;
  2. contains definitions of and information about all objects in the system;
  3. Is "data about the data" or "metadata"
  4. Is entirely maintained by RDBMS
