Career change from software testing engineer to development

Hi sir,

I am working as a software engineer in Testing for the last 2 years. Now I would like to change my career to development. What should I do in order to move to development .Should I do any certifications?Please suggest me on this problem. Should I go for SAP or Java.

Hi, The first step to transit from testing to developement is to identify your strengths on reasoning,logical and analytical skills. Once you are confident with those, identify the S/w tool/language you are going to master. My advice is first to learn the concepts of C,C++ and unix. They are the basic building blocks for other languages and platforms. If you are confident in these concepts , you can very well easily pick up any language/tools in S/w industry. Then choose the platform in which you want to become a developement professional (say Java, Microsoft, Oracle , SAP etc)..Then master them ..i feel certifications are only added advantages and not mandatory. The interview panel is only interested in testing your logical reasoning, technical skills and attitude..all the best ..i hope the info is useful
