There is a simple pan balance. If the mass on each pan Is the same then why is the bar (of the balance) horizontal and not Inclined? Meaning, if we incline the bar then it comes back to the horizontal Position again. Why?

the gravitational force acting ont he the 2 pans (which are having same mass on it and are linked to one another through the bar ) is the same . thus when one tries to incline the bar this force ensures that a equilibrium is met which can only be achieved when both the pans are equvi distant from the ground thus bringing back the bar to horizontal position.
