Well.............SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) is used to send mails but again it supports only 7bits in ASCII format posing limitation on internet mail 2 a msg.....thus we use MIME protocol ( Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension) which supports all other formats ( photos, images, videos etc...) upto 8bits in binary form......
