It is not a Informatica problem, it is database problem. May be the database services has been stopped. Once you check services of oracle and use oracle 8.1.7 or higher version if you are using the operating system XP then it will work properly.

Hi,
generally this problem arises when the informatica repository services are not started. please check that informatica repository services are started & running on your machine. Also check the connection string specified while creating the repository, this should be your database name.

Hi,
If you look at the last few lines of the error message,
ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name

Database driver error...
Function Name : Connect
Database Error: Failed to connect to database using user [] and connection string [].
The connection string does not specify a user name and a connection string.
It shows as []. Please check your repository server configuration.
It is an issue with the connection string.

Go to the mapping designer check the source username, after that go to session task double click on it go to mapping tab, check the source connection if the name that is mentioned in this tab is not same as the user name what you have used as source change it to that.
