There are basically 2 types of transmission technologies

1.Broadband  :In this type .Every host sends the packet/message  to all the host.
the message has a source address and a destination address. destination address helps the host to identify whether the message is indeed for them or somebody else
the source address allows them to identify from whom the message has come.

2.Point to Point :In this type of technology there are multiple connections (transmission lines) between 2 hosts. so the the packet can take different routes if a particular route is congested.

NBMA :- Non Broadcast Multi Access Technology: Eg Frame Relay technology.

Point to Point:-  Two different Wan segments are joined via a Point to point link via leased line.

1)Broadcast: here the message is sent to all hosts or all links conected to the sendoing computer. Only the host to whom the message is inttended will accecpt and others will reject.

2)Point to point: here the sending computer will choose only computer bases on some algorithm or whatever and son on and hence there will be only one path to the destination computer.

1) Wired: It uses physical medium to transmit data such as twisted pair, fiber optic etc.

2) Wireless: It does not use physical link or medium to transmit data instead it use micro wave, infrared etc.

These are the 2 main type to transmission technology, and all other technology like broadband, base band, point to point comes under these to type.
