I don't know if I've understood your problem correct. But, have you "loaded" the Web-Addin for WinRunner at the winrunner-startup? (you need to "check" the checkbox at the starting of winrunner - to enable it's web-features.)Are you using the proper version of Winrunner (relative to your browser's version?)(i had this problem once - my browser was "too new" for my "too old" winrunner-version.)
If you are talking about a file dialogue box, I have suggestions. Win Runner 7.6 will not identify the objects of file dialogue if you record or learn with gui spy. All you have to do is, use Virtual Object Wizard and use with your own logical name. File dialogue box is, if you want to attach a file to your mail, you will get a pop-up window which helps you to find the path of the file.
