Hello,

Layout is the term where we define the type of dat loading. Wheather it is a serial type of loading or a multi file handling. If it is a serial file the layout will be automatically propogated from the source serial component. If in the case of multi file the layout must be specified depending upon the type of partition. (Say 2 way or 4 way).

Please correct me if am wrong

Hi Mohan,
EME stands for Enterprose Metadata Environment.

in newer version of Abinitio , EME is divided into two parts

1. Technical Repository
2. Metadata Hub

Sandbox is a place where a developer stores all his created graphs on GDE.

when the graphs are check in , then it moves to EME that is a central repository.

Thus you can say sandbox is repository for your created objects that contains your private graphs and also check out graphs from EME. you can check in graphs you created to EME from your sandbox. Thus making them available for all to check out and use.

EME is a central repository where you find technical repository as well as Metadata Hub that contains data that helps Business Analysts , Organizations etc in making strategic decisions.
let me know if it helps :)
