I think organization_id is a general term/column in HR which can be any organization.. it may be an inventory organization, Legal Entity, Business Group etc..But if the column name is org_id then it is only supposed to be the "Operating Unit"

please correct me if i am wrong...

Organization_id is one of the column of inventory orgnization column(operating unit table column). But org_id is the profile value for Mo: Operating unit.

When you open profilethru application developer responsibility,

There you can query the records by giving the Profile name as Mo:operating unit.

if you look at the code internally they are written code on oragnaization_id column of org_organization_definitions.
