It looks like that left balance needs double weight than right. If melon is 250 gm each than it compensates.

Here we can see that 1kg+3 melons equal to the weight of 8 melons.ie 1kg=5 melonsthe weight of 1 melon=200gm ( as all hav same weights)

it can be done like this....

let the difference between the waits of the pans be---- x;

then 1kg + x = 8y

and  1kg - x = 2y

then by solving these equations in either way we have weight of a single melon--- y=200gms
