1)One will definately log a defect in Defect tracking tool such as TTpro,Little buggy with status open and assign to respective developer.

2)Satus will be new/open once you assign to developer,then he will change the status of defect either fixed/deferred/.. and reassign to you..

from status changed by the developer tester will understand his dfect has been accepted or rejected.

answer to this wud b a part of defect management skills. it cud b defect manger / lead or improtantly tester. every defect raised should be discussed n agreed, resolved or set to a standard level as accepted with project team. all the defects shd b tracked either in a defect mgmt tool or simply ms-office which should give the current status of the defect. based on the discussion with development n business every defect needs to be updated.
