In PowerCenter we can use global repository, where as in PowerMart we can't use global repository.

In PowerCenter & PowerMart we can use local repositories.

In PowerCenter High range Data Warehouse is applicable, where as in PowerMart Low&Mid range Data Warehouse is applicable.

PowerCetner supports ERP, but not in PowerMart

?With PowerCenter you receive all functionality, including the ability to register multiple servers, share metadata across repositories and partition data.

?The PowerMart includes all features except distributed metadata, multiple registered servers and data partitioning. Also the various options available with PowerCenter not available with PowerMart like Powerconnect for Siebel, PeopleSoft etc.

Powercenter and Power mart are two flavours/components of informatica.

Power mart is used for small dwh. (like individual department data storage).

Power center is used for enterprise data ware houses.

ODS means Operational Data Store. It usually contains 2-6 months of operational data. It is a kind of database often used as an interim area for a data warehouse. It is dynamic unlike data warehouse which contains static data. ODS is used to run simple queries on small amounts of data and to create as-hoc reports on current data.

Power Mart is a departmental version of Informatica for building, deploying, and managing data warehouses and data marts. Power center is used for corporate enterprise data warehouse and power mart is used for departmental data warehouses like data marts. Power Center supports global repositories and networked repositories and it can be connected to several sources. Power Mart supports single repository and it can be connected to fewer sources when compared to Power Center.

ODS integrates data from multiple buisness operation sources to address operational problem that spans one or more buisness functions. It feeds operational system in a data warehouse. It provide current data in data ware house. Data after been integrated and transformed is either passed directly or through ODS to data warehouse.

For mapping parameters create a notepad file like this way,

Sysntax:
-------------
[foldername.WF:workflow_name.ST:session_name]
$$para_name=value
for session parameters,
sysnatx:
-----------
[foldername.session_name]
$DBconnection=relational connection
where
$----->session parameters
$$--------->mapping parameters
$$$-------->system variables
