Once we decide the tool the first thing before recording the first line is to make sure that the application to be tested is open and is not mininised.

Hi

    After Deciding the tool,first we have to learn the application through Rapid Script Wizard or in some other methods so that winrunner recognizes the objects in the application while executing the script.

1) planing a test:determine the functionality (it is better to design short , specialized tests that check the specifis functionality) and decide the type of checks & sync points and decide which part of test should use analog &which use context sensitive mode and determine the types of programming that you added to the test script

2)documenting test information about the test in the general and description tabs of the test properities dailog box and also  remaing the dialog box....... file ->test properties

and finally set to global gui map file then go through rapid test script wizard

this is the universal mothod
