Hi,

SDLC depicts the way how Software Ttesting should go hand in hand with the Software Devepment process.  It shows that testing activities should begin right from the requirements stage, client requirements will be definitley met at the end.  'V' model is one of the models of SDLC and it gives clear idea sas when to start each testing activity e.g. creating test plans, coding phase, test execution etc. to keep in line with the development process.

In V model the testing is commenced at the begining unlike in the traditional models where testing is given attendtion after the coding phase. When the statement of requirements are in place the test startegies are prepared. The design and development phases are closely knitted and are Qulity Checked against various testing phases. The code is tested in unit testing. The Detail design is qulaity checked by the System Integration testing , the high lvel design is QC by end to end testing and the requirements are QC by the acceptnace or Operational readiness testing.

The advantage in V model is testing cycle involved right at the begining, Which helps in finding faluts at teh early stage saving time and money.

hello friend

 As per my knowledge i have given the details..i cant draw this in a V shape.. kindly put sdlc on one side and test cycle on another side.(V - shape)..

Information gathering and analysis - Here Assesement of development plan,Prepare Test plan,Requirements phase testing is done.

Design & Coding  - Design phase testing and Program phase testing using White box testing is done.

Install build  - System testing (Black box testing),User Accepance testing.

Maintenance - Port Testing,Test Software Changes and Change control board for defect efficency.

this is called as v model not becoz of testing at earlier phase will help to reduce when we go further.

It is called v model bcoz when we want to go back when some requirement cahnge , we can go back. thats why it is v model. thats why we can not draw parallel line.

The V-model is a software development process (also applicable to hardware development) which can be presumed to be the extension of the waterfall model. Instead of moving down in a linear way, the process steps are bent upwards after the coding phase, to form the typical V shape. The V-Model demonstrates the relationships between each phase of the development life cycle and its associated phase of testing. The horizontal and vertical axes represents time or project completeness (left-to-right) and level of abstraction (coarsest-grain abstraction uppermost), respectively.
