KPA:Key Process Areas.Means what are all the areas in s/w field should be improved.These KPA's comes only in CMM and CMM standards are are applicable only to software field only.

Capability maturity model (CMM) has 5 maturity levels.

A)Initial  B)Repeatable  C)Defined D) Managed and E)Potimizing

Each of the above level except "Initial" is composed of several process area called "Key Process Area". Again each KPA has 5 sections called common features.

We have 5 maturity levels in CMMI and 22 Process areas are there upto level 5
